| Nov. 6th, 2007 08:19 am Tiger Tuesday Happy Tuesday. Here are some more treats, straight from the Tiger's mouth. - "I was wondering what that was, cause it looked an awful lot like birdseed." (in reference to my breakfast cereal, which has flax seed in it)
- "That's one of the many reasons I love you, baby. You know about fruit signals and hotel porn." (no explanation necessary, I think)
- "Are those those big sumbitches?" (Follow up question to "What's a Yankee Candle?")
Also, proof of the possible genetic origins for our little tiger's directness came in the mail yesterday. Granny sent him an article clipping from the local paper with the headline: Libraries Fear Domestic Surveillance Law.
Across the top is a note from Granny which says: "Thought you might like this -- means nothing to me."5 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 1st, 2007 10:48 am More Tiger Gems - On CousCous Additions to the Tiger Tool Box
(Looking through a vegetarian cookbook)
tiger: How do you feel about couscous?
me: I like it in some dishes.
tiger: I got kinda burt out on couscous in undergrad... and hummous... and potlucks.
me: Potlucks?
tiger: Radical feminists l-ooo-ve potlucks.
I learn something new every day!
(later... same vegetarian cookbook)
tiger: Peasant style rice dish? What the hell is that supposed to mean, baby?
me: Well, "peasant style" just sort of indicates simple ingredients, cozy, and comforting. Kinda like comfort food.
tiger: So, it's some kind of classist shit. That's kinda f'ed up.
me: Well, what about peasant blouses, or peasant skirts? Are those bad?
tiger: They can look good... on the right woman.
In other words, he won't eat food with a classist name, but as long as the right woman is wearing it, a classist article of clothing is acceptable. 2 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 1st, 2007 09:53 am Blueberry Boy-Bait So, despite a mini crisis yesterday (involving the loss of massive amounts of work on my usability study), my Halloween was simply delightful. S&M accompanied me and the tiger to Barnes & Noble last night. Tiger had said he had picked out a book for me, and hooray! it was Nigella Lawson's How to be a Domestic Goddess, a book about baking that I've been lusting after for a while, but have only mentioned once. A certain boy plays very close attention sometimes. Yummy! So, we plopped ourselves down in the craft section, and he looked at Tom of Finland while I flipped through recipes. Bliss!
This morning, we are looking through recipes again over breakfast and we came across one that, if nothing else, has the BEST title ever:
Blueberry Boy-BaitTiger tells me that there is a certain little bear who might get really, really, super excited about this particular confection. I wonder who that could be? If the title isn't enough to lure you, here is Ms. Lawson's description: "aromatic custardy sponge, sweet gooey fruit and meringue, sugar-crisped--boy-bait Brit-style." Oh yeah. 1 comment - Leave a comment

| Oct. 31st, 2007 12:38 pm Tiger Tool Box Bizarre word combinations have remarkable staying power, especially those that are spoken aloud during the wee hours of the morning when you aren't quite awake yet and probably shouldn't be speaking at all.
Such is this particular turn of phrase: Tiger Tool Box
This has multiple meanings, but my favorite is "a place to keep all of the tiger's wonderfully direct (read: blunt) observations and world commentary for later enjoyment"
Here is an example of an item currently in the Tiger Tool Box:
We decide to try the Indian Buffet here in town last week (tiger is learning to love Indian food and has been trying lots of different dishes, although the condiments are his favorite). On the plate are two new items: 1) Saag Paneer and 2) Gulab Jamun.
Commentary on #1: "This tastes like really delicious baby food." Commentary on #2: (making a face) "Too sweet. It tastes kinda like a soggy twinkie."
So, LJ seems like the perfect place to keep track of every time the tiger cracks me up. More gems to come! 2 comments - Leave a comment
